I had agreed to do a shoot with Wollongong based model Lauren. As I was on holidays from work I didn't mind a weekday shoot in Wollongong, but I had trepidations when I realised the nominated day was after Australia Day, schools will be back and most workers will be back from holidays and I wasn't looking forward to the drive through Sydney's morning peak hour. As it was the worst traffic was 5 kilometres from home, on Warringah Road getting past the intersection with the Wakehurst Parkway took over 30 minutes - it should have been only 2-3 minutes. This turned a 2 hour trip to Albion Park, the shoot location at the old railway station, into a 2.5 hour trip.
Lauren is a tall model, long legs, long hair but her most striking feature is her facial structure. This is the reason there are so many headshots of her, and a few that I severely cropped into headshots. I think she has potential as a promotions model - the face of "whatever". We shot at a number of locations and tried various things, but when we came across a building with green walls and orange rust spots on the door everyone involved knew this was a perfect complement to Lauren's honey coloured hair.
For the majority of the images only 2 off-camera flashes in umbrellas were used. There were triggered with Pocket Wizard FlexTT5's, MiniTT1 and AC3 zone controller.
The resulting photos speak for themselves.
